DATING OVER FIFTY: HOW TO DATE WHEN YOU ARE OVER FIFTY?

DATING OVER FIFTY: HOW TO DATE WHEN YOU ARE OVER FIFTY?

Dear SitAlong Blog,

The hardest thing for me now that I am newly single, and Over 50 is firstly admitting that I am single, and secondly my fear of rejection because of my age.

Can you help me?

Best,

Arlene, 55 NH

Hi Arlene,

Being newly single can be very difficult no matter what age you are. Being over 50,  and single sometimes the hardest thing to do is  to admit your single. The first thing you really need to do is get out. If all your friends are married, and you do not have any single friends, make new ones. Male or female, find a place or gathering and join it.

In addition,I would recommend reading stories about people who have been through this experience. Read  stories on how people took their first step out once they became newly single. Reading other newly single men and women’ story’s;  are great motivators for single women and men to get back into the dating game AT ANY AGE.

Furthermore, I would also confront the issue you are having with age. Do not fear the age you have. You should look into the mirror, and say “Arlene, I am 55 years old, single, and living.” Say this line early in the morning, and you will see that not only will you confront your age, but you will also learn not to reject the age you are. Be confident with your age, once you are confident in your age, the fear of being rejected by someone younger, or even your age will vanish.

Remember, reading stories, and admitting to one self your age are great starters to entering the dating game at age fifty. So, for all the ladies out their who are single, and over fifty- own your age, and soon you will see fewer rejection and more invitations. 🙂

Until next time…  🙂

My favorite part: The Beatles, Ringo and Paul performance. Together they performed a new song they wrote and their voices took the audience back to the 60’s. Amazing memories, and amazing rebirth of their raw talent.

In favor of POT SHOPS? Marijuana? I’m over 50, and honestly I don’t see why NOT??

In favor of POT SHOPS? Marijuana? I’m over 50, and honestly I don’t see why NOT??

Dear SitAlong Blog,

I have to admit when I was younger I did smoke the green leaf- or marijuana. It was the thing to do back then when you went to a concert. However, I never really was a dedicated smoker. I would just do it occasionally. But that was BACK in the day.Today, my friend Myra who lives in Connecticut,  actually smokes it for medicinal purposes, and to tell you the truth, although marijuana is legal there – I do not see the reason why it should be illegal. I think people use it when they need to relax, and it does have POSITIVE medicinal purposes.

A HUG OR A KISS: WHY HUGS ARE BETTER THAN KISSES?

A HUG OR A KISS: WHY HUGS ARE BETTER THAN KISSES?

Dear SitAlong Blog,

I am currently seeing someone and I do not know why, but after not being with someone for so long I have more of an urge to hug my partner, and have them hold me, as opposed to kissing him. I may hug him too much. :/ Is this odd? What do you think?

Olivia, 58 OH

Hi Olivia,

Well, the fact that you have been single for a while may be the reason why you need and want to be held more. You want a hug because you miss that cuddly non-sexual affection. Guess what? That is normal.

WHY VALENTINE’S DAY DINNER WORKS..at HOME?

WHY VALENTINE’S DAY DINNER WORKS..at HOME?

Valentine’s Day for couples over fifty feels more like an everyday affair as the years pass. Believe it or not, men and women who have partners love Valentine’s Day, but also have started hating it.

Dave is 59, and has been married for 30 years and writes:

Valentines day is a great day to show the person you love, HOW much you love them. However, I don’t feel obliged anymore to do something outragoius  for my partner. After the first 10 years of marraige, we both decided to make Valentine’s Day- a night in our home to ourselves. We make a dinner together, light some candles, exchange cards- and reminence on our lives together, and the best part there is no one around. The hype of going out to dinner, became a thing of the past, because  when we did go out, we realized there was too much noise, and we could not stand waiting for tables. So we made it our little tradition to put together our OWN dinner.
