5 Things that Stop You from Dating

Meeting someone new is an adventure, especially if you keep trying to meet someone, and something keeps stopping you from meeting someone new. When you are single and over fifty, know who or what is stopping you from dating again. We’ve compiled a list of things that may be stopping you from meeting someone new:

5 Dating Stoppers

1. A friend of the opposite sex. Sometimes having friends of the opposite sex can affect your chances of meeting someone new. Therefore, be sure to set boundaries, and keep some distance between your friends and your romantic partner. Although you may feel that you are just friends, your romantic partner may not read your relationship the same way.

2. A single friend. Believe it or not a single friend of the same sex can also deter you from meeting someone special. If you hang around the same single friend all the time, you are less likely to meet or try to meet someone. Try going out on your own, or hanging around someone else, and see if a change in company, can change your outlook.

3. A past lover. If you have an ex, or someone that still contacts you, or is still on your mind, you must realize that you are not ready to meet someone, or you are still fixated on the past relationship. It is time to move on, and in order to move on you must have closure. Close what was, and understand that if you don’t close off that chapter, it will stop you from meeting someone new.

4. You. When it comes to dating, you can be your own worst enemy. You begin to think too much about what can happen, or what may happen again, and you can start over thinking the relationship before the relationship even begins, and all this worrying, and thinking will stop you from dating again.

5. Dating mementos. Pictures, gifts, texts, voicemail’s and anything that reminds you of a past relationship can stop you from meeting someone new.  Try to rid mementos of past relationships, so you can start fresh and new.

You, your friends, and your past can stop you from meeting someone new. Meeting someone new can be an adventure, but remember that in order to meet someone new, you need to avoid those factors that can stop you from meeting someone new. Move forward in your dating experience, and don’t let anyone or anything stop you from dating someone new.
